Getting involved in community activities is a great way to make a difference and support our cause. We have a full calendar of events planned throughout the year, and we want to do as many as possible with the help of passionate supporters like you. Whether you’re interested in trains, the environment, or local fairs, there’s something for everyone. Let’s explore the scheduled activities and see how you can join us in making a positive impact.

Scheduled Activities and How You Can Join
National Train Day - Saturday closest to May 10th
National Train Day celebrates the history and future of rail travel. It’s a perfect opportunity to raise awareness about passenger rail and its benefits. We can host events at local stations, offering tours, talks, and family-friendly activities. This event helps us connect with the community and share our vision for expanded rail service.
Kansas Rail Caucus - Last Wednesday in February
The Kansas Rail Caucus is a gathering of rail advocates, policymakers, and community leaders. It’s a chance to discuss rail development, funding, and policy. We participate to represent community interests and push for better passenger rail options. Supporting this event means helping us build stronger relationships with decision-makers.
WEALTH Day Topeka - February
WEALTH Day focuses on economic development and community growth. We use this platform to highlight how passenger rail can boost local economies by connecting towns and cities. Your support here helps us spread the word about the economic benefits of rail expansion.
Table at Union Station - Anytime
We often set up informational tables at Union Station to engage with travelers and locals. This is a casual way to meet people, share updates, and gather feedback. Volunteering for this activity is a great way to get involved without a big time commitment.
Earth Day Events - March
Earth Day is all about environmental awareness. We participate in local events to promote sustainable transportation options like passenger rail. Joining us at Earth Day events helps us advocate for cleaner travel and a healthier planet.

Transit Events - Spring, Summer, Fall
Throughout the warmer months, we attend various transit-related events. These include fairs, workshops, and community rides. These gatherings allow us to connect with transit users and supporters, sharing information about upcoming rail projects.
Periodic T-shirt Sale Promotion - Summer
Our t-shirt sales help fund our activities and spread awareness. Wearing our shirts shows your support and starts conversations about passenger rail. Participating in these sales is a fun way to contribute.
Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson - September
The Kansas State Fair draws large crowds, making it an ideal place to reach new supporters. We need help getting invited to participate with organizations that have booths and want to share our mission and recruit volunteers. This event is lively and engaging, perfect for community outreach.
Climate/Fall Festival
This festival celebrates the changing seasons and environmental responsibility. We use this event to highlight how rail travel reduces carbon footprints compared to driving. Your help here supports our message of sustainability.
Lawrence Electric Vehicle Showcase - October 2026 TBD
The Electric Vehicle Showcase in Lawrence is a forward-looking event focused on clean transportation. We participate to show how passenger rail fits into a future with greener travel options. Supporting this event aligns with our commitment to innovation and the environment.

Giving Tuesday - November
Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity. We use this day to raise funds and recruit volunteers. Your support on this day helps us plan and execute our activities for the coming year.
Fall Leaves Best Weekend to Ride - November 18-20
Fall is a beautiful time to enjoy scenic train rides. We promote special trips during the peak leaf season to attract riders and showcase the experience. This event helps build enthusiasm for passenger rail.
Heartland Missouri River Runner Fall Date
The Heartland Missouri River Runner offers a picturesque route along the river. We support this service and encourage community participation during the fall season. It’s a great example of how rail connects people to nature and local culture.
How Our Services Support These Activities
To make these events successful, we rely on a few key services that help us connect with the community and promote passenger rail.
Passenger Rail Advocacy and Community Engagement
Our core service is advocating for expanded passenger rail in the region. We organize events, provide information, and build partnerships to support this goal. For example, at National Train Day and the Kansas State Fair, we could use this service to educate and inspire attendees, but we need your participation.
Event Coordination and Volunteer Management
Coordinating multiple events throughout the year requires strong organization. We manage volunteer sign-ups, event logistics, and outreach efforts. This service ensures that activities like the Earth Day events and Transit events run smoothly.
Merchandise Sales and Fundraising
Our periodic t-shirt sales and Giving Tuesday campaigns help fund our work. We design and sell merchandise that supporters can wear proudly. This service not only raises money but also spreads awareness in everyday settings.
Why Your Support Matters
Every event we participate in depends on community support. Volunteers help us staff tables, organize rides, and spread the word. Donations fund materials, permits, and promotional items. Together, we can expand passenger rail options, boost local economies, and offer cleaner transportation choices.
By joining us, you become part of a movement that connects communities and builds a better future. Whether you can volunteer for one event or support many, your involvement makes a difference.
Get Involved Today
We’d love to have you join us at any of these activities. Check our calendar, pick an event that interests you, and reach out to learn how you can help. Together, we can make these events vibrant and successful.
